Abstract:

The tribological property of threaded fasteners plays a critical role in determining the preload converted by the tightening torque. This study investigated fundamental factors affecting the coefficient of friction (CoF) of bolts, including plating, passivate, topcoat, drying method and speed, high temperature exposure, repeated tightening, washer material and nut material.

 

About the Speaker:

Jenny Ma has been working as a R & D chemist at Pavco, USA, for 2 years. She earned her PhD degree in Mining and Minerals Engineering at Virginia Tech and worked on research projects related to surface chemistry.

By acquiring INCO Limited in 2006, Vale S.A. became one of the world’s largest and most sought-after suppliers of high-quality nickel. Today, Vale supplies a number of cathode forms and carbonyl nickel to high-end users around the globe. The company will soon introduce its Long Harbour Nickel Plating Rounds, a new high-purity product designed specifically for electroplating. It demonstrates Vale’s steadfast commitment to innovating premium-quality products that deliver advanced performance characteristics.

 

About the Speaker:

Robert Seguin is a Product Manager at Vale with more than 25 years of experience in nickel refining and new product development. As a professional engineer who holds an MBA, Robert has worked in a diverse range of business areas, including R&D, process technology, production, capital projects and marketing.

Abstract:

Sustainability is a global measure for the economic utilization of limited resources in a way, that these never become exhausted.

However, a single process plays by its own only a small role in the global life cycles of products, raw materials and water. Processes may support sustainability, and supporting sustainable surface treatment processes combine feed back of rinse water, recycling and separation technologies together with specially tailored process chemistry for improved utilization of resources and reduced generation of waste water.

Abstract:

Alkaline zinc-nickel electrolytes are widely used in the automotive industry to produce highly corrosion resistant coatings. Schlötter Germany introduced this alloy.

Alkaline zinc nickel electrolytes contain organic amines to stabilize the Ni-ion. But during electrolysis, some breakdown products are formed. One of the contamination is cyanide, what cause trouble to the waste water treatment.

Schlötter develop a new anode type for alkaline ZnNi electrolytes:

- less decomposition products and no CN formation,

- less Additive consumption,

- higher current efficiency,

- less voltage.

 

About the Speaker:

Mr. Wohlfarth starts with electroplating in Degussa Germany. Now, he has been working for the Schlötter company for 20 years, of which 12 years is spent in China to support clients in Far East. Since 2014, he is responsible for all export affairs of Schlötter.

Abstract:

The ANTIOX family processes are environment-friendly nanopolymer antitarnish, which

have been specially developed for application on jewelry, watches and leather goods, as

well as electronics with low resistance request in order to improve resistance to abrasion

and corrosion.

It is useful in improving oxidation and abrasion resistance properties of gold, silver, palladium, bronze, etc. These processes are also characterized with easy operation and cleaning.

Davide Rossi graduated in chemistry master in Florence University (Italy), Davide ROSSI is working in Coventya for almost 20 years. He developed his skills by occupying several positions in this famous additives company, as Precious metals technician, R/D manager, Account Manager Luxury and Fashion Goods and finally Precious metals product manager.

Abstract:

Environmental and legislative directive reinforces progressive modifications of these trivalent chrome based passivation systems to improve overall performance.

Incorporation of nano particles enables two-fold advantages - increase in film thickness from 40-500nm & self-healing property, thus becomes ultimate match to those of hexavalent systems. Cobalt free version in this category is the recent entrant.

Furthermore, post-passivatlon sealants & /or top-coats wIth specialized lubricants are able to enhance the corroslon resistance along wIth to modify the frictlonal properties of processed components.

 

About the Speaker:

Presently, he heads complete R&D activities in the area of GMP for the company. Most specifically, main areas of focus are developments of several plating - Zinc, Nickel, Copper, Tin, etc. & post plating processes trivalent chromates, sealers & top-coats etc.
